Truckers share their safe driving tips for this holiday

When it comes to good driving, just about everyone thinks they are an expert. But almost anyone can make a mistake while on the roads, including during the beloved holiday season. Still, it is important to discuss some safety tips to avoid getting injured in an accident over the course of the next week.

In this post, providing the driver safety advice are not expert drivers but professional ones. Truck drivers give the following advice to other motorists this year, hoping that fewer accidents will occur on San Francisco roads and roadways across the nation.

One important and very simple piece of advice is for drivers to give themselves enough time to get to their holiday destinations. With the busyness of the season, people can feel rushed and in a hurry. Rushing while driving, however, is dangerous and can lead to overly aggressive, inattentive driving.

Along with the holiday rush, holiday drinks are also common. Once drivers get where they want to go, they will often try to relax and enjoy eggnog, wine, or maybe some spiked hot cocoa in the company of their family and friends. Drunk driving accidents are too common on an everyday basis, but especially during the holidays. Everyone’s holiday will be more joyful if it doesn’t result in an accident or arrest. Drivers should plan ahead and designate sober drivers or make overnight plans if they plan to enjoy several drinks.

Truckers give another safe driving tip that also highlights their own responsibility on the roads. They warn drivers to be aware of commercial trucks’ blind spots. Driving where a trucker can see a motorist can prevent a crash, but truckers are also responsible to understand their blind spots and drive accordingly. They should avoid changing lanes, for example, without thoroughly looking out for motorists.

These are just a few safe driving tips. They might sound simple and minimal, but even if every driver adopted one piece of safety advice this holiday season, there could be a major reduction in the rate of accidents and injuries.
